For 50 Years, Kansas Has Chosen the Democratic Nominee with 100% Accuracy. Bernie Sanders Just Won Kansas.

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 28: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) addresses a rally in support of Social Security in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill March 28, 2011 in Washington, DC. Sanders and four other Democratic senators, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), said the Republicans' entitlement reform plan will "dismantle Social Security, delay distribution of benefits to seniors." NATIONAL (VFB) – Today Bernie Sanders continued his resurgent streak, besting his establishment opponent in two of three Democratic Super Saturday caucus primaries.

Sanders first took victory in Kansas, followed by a win in Nebraska.

The day’s most important takeaway might be Bernie’s win in Kansas.  That’s because for the last 50 years Kansas voters have successfully picked the Democratic party’s presidential nominee with 100% accuracy—better than any other state in the nation.

Of course this is only one statistic in a sea of data.  But for those of us who #FeelTheBern and prefer analysis beyond what the corporate media has to offer, Bernie’s wins in Kansas and Nebraska are adequate proof that the Political Revolution is alive and well.

“Today Bernie Sanders continued his resurgent streak, besting his establishment opponent in two of three Democratic Super Saturday caucus primaries.”
Actually the Democrats held two caucuses and one primary on Saturday. Bernie won the caucuses. Hillary won the primary.
They are different animals and should be referred to correctly.

  3. Jjt says:

What utter bullshit. The state is strongly Republican in presidential elections; it hasn’t voted for a Democrat since 1964, when Lyndon Johnson won in a landslide. Bwaaaahaha.

    • Daniel says:

…The point, it’s doing over your head!

This has nothing to do with how Kansas votes in the general election. What this is saying is: the Democrat who wins Kansas in the PRIMARIES, has for the last 50 years always been the Democratic nominee.

Reading comprehension classes aren’t hard to find.

    • TJ says:

If you really want to go there, EVERY state that Clinton has won so far is also a red state. Sanders has won the only blue states so far, being Vermont & New Hampshire. The point to this though, was Kansas has predicted with 100% accuracy the Democratic nominee.

      How embarrassing for you!

I’m Australian, but I’m hoping Bernie will win the Democratic nomination,]. Clinton is a self-serving tool of the rich and powerful.

  5. Kelley says:

The article clearly stated that Kansas picked the Democratic candidate. Read the full article before trolling the page.

  6. Kalista says:

    @jjt….notice it says nominee….lol

Guess that streak is about to end.

Senator Bernie Sanders has all the qualities of a true leader. Bernie is fair, kind, honest, humble, energetic, authentic, intelligent, experienced, and passionate about helping each child succeed in this country, thus building a stronger and brighter USA for future generations. Check Bernie’s record on you tube and learn the truth about him. He has been wise in his decision making skills and fought against needless wars including the Vietnam war and the Iraq war which took 1000’s of lives of young Americans while leaving others severely crippled. Bernie recently received the highest congressional award for his fight for veterans’ care from the Veterans of Foreign wars. 170 top leading economists and most physicians as well as nurses praise his budget for America. The medicare for all plan will save American families an average of 5,000 a year. Bernie’s plan will grow the middle class while ending the bribes and schemes going on in our government today. He will raise the min wage to a fair wage of $15.00 an hour which is long overdue! When people earn a fair wage they contribute more to the economy, keeping businesses competitive in prices because more small business will spring up! During the primary election, Bernie received 86% of the vote from his home state where he served as mayor and still serves as a member of the United States Senate. This 86% vote speaks volumes about his character and no other candidate even reached 50% in the states they served. He has been endorsed by many reputable organizations including the US post office, the nurse’s union, teacher unions, labor unions, top economists, etc. Bernie is Jewish (not a communist). He calls himself a democratic (by the people) socialist (for the people). Socialists programs built this country including our roads, utilities, national parks, (which saved the buffalo), public schools and libraries, our US military, social security, etc. Before our great country is turned into a system of total oligarchy, where the 1% club continues to buy our public servants, making the laws to benefit themselves, or trading scams and schemes to make big bucks for themselves, join the revolution to put an honest president in the White House. Our ancestors warned us what will happen to our country by allowing the shady deals to go on within our government.. Please get involved today by going to and make calls, pass out fliers, or contribute $5, $10, what you can afford! The revolution is here. All of our children’s future is at stake. Our country needs your vote! Vote smart! Vote Bernie!

and nevada the worst, congrats hillary

  10. AG says:

This is misleading. KS didn’t even have primaries/caucuses until 1976, so they’ve only been voting for 40 years. Prior to 1968, DNC delegates alone determined the nominee from all 50 states and for 1972 & 1976, some states still retained the old method while others implemented primaries/caucuses.

Furthermore, KS’ position in the primary schedule in many past elections was one to two months further down the line, meaning that the nominee was almost always decided by the time KS voted.

Let’s keep to honest talking points, please.

Kansas chose Hillary by default, the Burn is not a Democrat.

  12. says:

I will concede that now since they re in the middle of the pack that that causation isn t present anymore, but I d reckon the mere fact that people are hearing Sanders won Kansas and every democratic nominee in the last 50 years has won Kansas is going to have an influence on how he does.
