ILLINOIS (May 6, 2017) — Yesterday as House Republicans celebrated with Donald Trump at the White House about their plan to take healthcare away from millions of Americans, a young mother raising a sick child took to social media to blast the lawmakers for their heartless indecency.
Last year Alicia and Brett Brockhouse, of South Jacksonville, Illinois, were overjoyed to welcome the birth of their first child, son Asher, but their joy quickly turned to distress when at just 7-days old the infant was diagnosed with a rare and potentially-fatal disease known as MSUD.

Unlike other developed countries, the United States of America still does not have a national healthcare system for its citizens, so the Brockhouse family was forced to hold fundraisers to cover little Asher’s massive hospital bills.
Unlike the current ACA (Obamacare), which prevents insurance companies from denying coverage to people with “pre-existing conditions,” the Republican’s replacement bill (AHCA) seeks to eliminate such protections to once-again let insurance companies deny coverage to sick infants like Asher Brockhouse.
Thus, when House Republicans gathered with Trump at the White House rose garden to laugh and celebrate, not improving healthcare, but eliminating coverage and stripping health insurance from 24 million Americans, Brockhouse fired back.

The young mother took to Facebook and posted a picture of her infant son in the hospital with the message:
This is Asher – my world, my best friend, and adorable 20 month old son. Asher suffers from multiple health conditions and on July 26th, 2016 he went into cardiac arrest. The next fifty days were spent battling for his life. I am not sure if Obamacare is the answer, but I am ABSOLUTELY positive AHCA is NOT the answer to saving America. How dare you look at this child and his family and decide whether he receives the health care he needs and most likely deny him the proper health care? @realdonaldtrump @republicanparty
When more Americans have the courage to stand up and speak out like the parents of little Asher Brockhouse, our bought-and-paid-for lawmakers in Washington, D.C. will have no choice but to listen.
