Tulsi Gabbard Rips Donald Trump for Letting Erdogan Thugs Attack U.S. Citizens in America

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 18, 2017) — Tulsi Gabbard ripped President Trump on Thursday for standing by and doing absolutely nothing about brutal attacks carried out earlier in the week by bodyguards of Turkish President Erdogan on American citizens in the Nation’s Capitol.

Trump extended an uncomfortably warm welcome to the Turkish President who is known for violent clashes wherever he goes.

Trump shakes hands with the President of Turkey at the White House.

Shocking footage shows a mob of Erdogan’s henchmen suddenly break through a line of American police, then violently attack a small group of protestors, some who were sitting on the ground.

Women and the elderly were among those brutalized in broad daylight. Journalists were also targeted.

Images showed agents of the Turkish government attacking random U.S. citizens in mobs, choking women and kicking old men in the face.

Not only has Trump, the President, done and said nothing about the brutal assault of American citizens in his own backyard, he extended a far greater welcome to the Turkish executive than our longtime ally, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who Trump rudely snubbed during her recent visit to the White House.

A growing chorus of lawmakers have blasted Trump’s failed leadership, including Senator John McCain who slammed the weak President’s non-response to the attacks, “We should throw the Turkish Ambassador out of the country.”

Thousands have also taken to social media to call out Trump’s complete silence and failure to protect American citizens from foreign violence on U.S. soil.

Trump’s message as President to American citizens is clear:  If you are exercising your Constitutional rights, and government agents from another country attack you, Donald Trump will do nothing to stop them or protect you.

Welcome to Trump’s America.

    According to John Jay College Prof. Joseph Giacalone, a retired New York Police Department sergeant, Erdogan’s thuggish body guards can’t be charged because they enjoy diplomatic immunity. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/why-turkish-bodyguards-involved-bloody-d-c-brawl-likely-won-n760926 But even if that’s true, it wouldn’t prevent their expulsion.

    When it comes to Trump’s cozy relationship to Erdogan, something my mother told me when I was quite young comes to mind. “You are known by the company you keep.”

    diplomatic immunity or not, if I was a cop on the beat during the incident, I would’ve gave them a few cracks with my club for beating on American’s near our state capital

  4. Kevin Schmidt says:

    They cannot claim diplomatic immunity for attacking people. It doesn’t work that way. They can indeed be arrested for that.

      @Kevin Schmidt
      While they can be arrested, they can’t be prosecuted by our country. They could commit murder, and apparently they would still have diplomatic immunity, unless their country waives the immunity. Otherwise, if a corrupt government wanted to jail a diplomat under false pretenses, they could simply claim the individual commited a sufficiently heinous crime as an excuse for their imprisonment/execution.
