Russian Kremlin Tweets From Trump’s Oval Office as American Press Banned

WASHINGTON (May 10, 2017) — Donald Trump met with top Russian agents Sergey Lavrov and Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office this morning for what was supposed to be a closed meeting, and yet pictures have emerged of the encounter not from American press (who were blocked from the meeting), but from Russian government social media accounts.

**For those keeping score at home, the Russian Kremlin officially has greater access to the President than the American press.

As the White House press pool sat locked outside, Twitter accounts used by the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian Embassy shared play-by-play tweets of the “closed-door” meeting.

After sharing a clip of Lavrov outside mocking reporters about James Comey, the Russian ministry tweeted a picture of Lavrov shaking hands with Trump in the Oval Office.

The Russian embassy then tweeted a photo of Trump shaking hands with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador at the center of the U.S. Intelligence community’s investigation into Russian hacking and interference in the 2016 election.

It was Kislyak that Jeff Sessions lied to Congress about meeting with during the campaign.

It was Kislyak that Michael Flynn secretly communicated with before lying about it to Congress.

Today, it was Kislyak shaking Trump’s hand in the Oval Office.
